Customise your reading experience with the new LinkedIn Pulse

on July 24, 2015

Since it was launched in 2003, LinkedIn has fast become THE networking space for professionals and business organisations alike. Available in 24 languages, the site boasts of having over 364 million users with over 3 million business profiles. It is one of the best ways to connect with professionals from all around the world.

After many revisions and tweaks, the current LinkedIn interface is more user-friendly and gives employers and businesses many tools to grow their professional network.

Launch of LinkedIn Pulse

Originally developed in 2010 as an individual news reader, the Pulse app has since been taken over by LinkedIn in 2013 to replace their own venture which was called LinkedIn Today. The app has recently been updated and now fully integrates the functionalities of both Pulse and LinkedIn. It is available as a free app in the Google Play Store. It features a steady stream of content and shows you news updates and articles that are relevant to you without the need of any prior setup.

Choose the type of articles you see

LinkedIn Pulse allows you to follow publishers whose articles you enjoy and the news feed will also show you posts from those who are popular in your network. In features that are similar to Facebook, you can share or comment on stories that you find interesting. A great feature of the app is that you can swipe left or right on the every story that you see. When you swipe to the right (as in the popular dating app Tinder) the article is saved under your profile and can be read later, whereas swiping to the left removes the article from your feed.

View content that is relevant

LinkedIn Pulse

Pulse then uses this information to determine what type of articles you enjoy and those you want to avoid ensuring that at all times you are viewing content that is relevant to you! It focuses on articles that have been published in the last 24 hours so you get updated news and information at all times.

You don’t have to do much

All you need to do is login with your LinkedIn profile and the app will automatically show you articles that are relevant to the industry you work in, who you are connected to and what professional services you follow.

Download the app on iOS or Android and enjoy the new LinkedIn Pulse experience!
